ART CONTEST: 2008-2009 Kokua Calendar
Theme: The Earth is Our Playground
Spending time OUTDOORS is a very exciting and educational way to learn about this great planet we call home. Think about the interesting and exciting ways you interact with nature and express it through art!
Let nature inspire you to create a Masterpiece!
Whether it’s a garden, farm, the ocean, forest, or mountain. Use paint, crayons, pastels, fabric, collage, or mixed media to depict all things good about the environment. You can even include words or photos* in your artwork, the possibilities are endless!
Guidelines:
• Format: 2-dimensional, on 8.5 x 11” paper, oriented horizontally ("landscape")
• Information: The following information must be printed on the back of each entry: Student’s Name, Grade, Teacher, and School.
• Deadline: All artwork needs to be submitted by February 29, 2008 to: Kokua Hawai’i Foundation, P.O. Box 866 Hale’iwa, HI 96712
• Criteria: Artwork will be judged on theme, visual appeal, originality, and creativity.
Winners will be chosen and their artwork included in the 2008/2009 school year Kokua Calendar. Other entries may be used on our website, in future newsletters, and cookbooks.
Each calendar winner will receive Kokua Hawai’i Foundation tote bag, calendar, stickers and other fun prizes. Proceeds of calendar sales will go to paying for programs of the Kokua Hawai’i Foundation: ‘AINA IS, 3R’s, Environmental Field Trips, and Kokua Earth Action Projects (KEAP).
*If photos of children are used in artwork, names of all subjects must be included along with parental permission to use their image in ‘AINA IS and Kokua Hawai’i Foundation publications.
