In September, 30 educators from 17 schools participated in our Garden-Based Learning and Compost Curriculum Training for Educators and 39 educators from 22 schools attended the Nutrition Education Curriculum Training for Educators. These trainings are the first of a two-part series which will cover the ʻĀINA In Schools units with Oʻahu-based educators and were created especially for teachers who want to use ʻĀINA In Schools lessons with their students. ʻĀINA In Schools is excited to be working with the Department of Education to provide PDE3 professional development credits to teachers who successfully complete the series and develop a lesson plan portfolio based on the course contents.

The ʻĀINA In Schools Team headed to Maui on September 20 for our first ever 'AINA In Schools Curriculum Training for Educators on Maui in partnership with the Maui School Garden Network. 20 Maui educators attended the training held on the Montessori School of Maui campus.

Be sure to read future Kōkua and ʻĀINA Newsletters for announcements of our spring semester trainings which will take place starting in January.
