Ag Day at the Capitol
March 22, 2017
Last month, the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation ‘ĀINA in Schools team packed up handouts and display boards and joined farmers, chefs, beekeepers, and more at the annual Ag Day at the Capitol event, held on the 4th floor of the Hawaiʻi State Capitol. Vendors displayed their wares from local hot sauces to mamaki tea to locally produced beef and and poke. A celebration of all things agriculture, the event highlighted both traditional and newer practices occurring in agriculture and local food production. Also an awareness event, Ag Day included representatives from the Department of Agriculture, UH Mānoa CTAHR, and other organizations focused on invasive species control and native plant restoration.
