Kauaʻi and Waimea Educator Training Recap
This month, the ʻĀINA team went statewide, visiting Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island to train educators in the ʻĀINA In Schools Curriculum and engage in hands-on learning in the garden. We wrapped up our PDE3 ʻĀINA In Schools Nutrition Curriculum Training for Educators at Wilcox Elementary School, Līhuʻe. 20 teachers attended and we enjoyed cooking close to the source snacks and learning how Kauaʻi Educators are providing Nutrition Education at their schools. On Hawaiʻi Island, we partnered with The Kohala Center and Kanu o ka ʻĀina Learning ʻOhana to train 14 educators and community members in the ʻĀINA In Schools Curriculum. Together we enjoyed cooking from the garden, composted all our food scraps with bokashi, and shared other ways to bring mālama ʻāina into the classroom. Mahalo to all our partners for making this year of ʻĀINA In Schools Curriculum Trainings for Educators a success!
