Maryknoll School Cleans Makapuʻu Beach
May 30, 2018
Maryknoll School’s 3rd graders cleaned 200 lbs. of trash and marine debris from Makapuʻu Beach on May 4. From bottles and cans left behind by beachgoers to microplastics, foam and fishing gear that have washed ashore, the students, parents and teachers helped to clean this beach as part of a service learning project. Beach cleanups are effective tools for hands-on education in addition to preventing plastic from entering or re-entering the ocean.
