Oʻahu ʻĀINA Educator Training for ʻEwa Schools
May 30, 2018
Fifty teachers from ‘Ewa region schools participated in our final ‘ĀINA In Schools Curriculum Training for Educators of the school year held at Island Pacific Academy. Highlights included building a vermicompost system, exploring seeds and plant parts, learning about the wahi pana (storied place) of ʻEwa, incorporating Hawaiian Culture-Based Education (HCBE) into the classroom, learning about Hawaiʻi’s waste stream through engaging in Plastic Free Hawaiʻi activities, and cooking a lunch together using recipes found in the ʻĀINA In School Curriculum. Mahalo to our partners Island Pacific Academy, Kamehameha Schools, Ulu Aʻe Learning Center, Blue Zones Hawaiʻi, and Aloun Farms for this transformational collaboration!
