Plastic Free Commitment Blog Series: #1 Bring your own reusable bag!
The Plastic Free Hawai‘i Commitment Card is made up of 10 independent and important commitments that can help reduce your plastic footprint. Over the next 10 months, we will share a little more information about each commitment and its potential impact.
Our first commitment is #1. CARRY REUSABLE BAGS
The Honolulu City Council passed Bill 38 updating and affirming that a plastic bag ban will go into effect July 1, 2015. The bill was signed into law by Mayor Kirk Caldwell on September 25th. Check out news coverage here. We applaud the Mayor, Council, as well as all the environmental groups and individuals who have worked for many years to bring this ban to fruition. YOU don’t need to wait until next July to be plastic free. You can bring your own bags to the store today and every day!
