Plastic Free Hawaiʻi at the ʻImi Pono Fundraiser

April 05, 2017

Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation attended the Annual ʻImi Pono Fundraiser at Pūʻōhala Elementary School, which supports Hawaiian immersion education. Hundreds were in attendance, and we offered the Plastic Free Hawaiʻi Water Refill Station, and an educational table including a bamboo spork giveaway and an upcycled t-shirt tote bag making activity. With assistance from a Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation mini-grant, this event was plastic-free for the 2nd year in a row, with all Hawaiian plates and beverages sold being served on Worldcentric compostable takeout materials, which are made from plants, not petroleum.
