ʻĀINA Family Nights are a great opportunity for a school to highlight their farm to school and health and wellness initiatives. ʻĀINA Family Nights in April included Haleʻiwa, Kaʻaʻawa, Kahuku, Keolu, Lāʻie and Sunset Beach Elementary Schools. These schools shared a variety of ways to engage families and the community in the ʻĀINA program at their school with opportunities to learn about where their food comes from and who is growing and cooking it. Highlights included community food trucks, community farmer partners, chef demonstrations, kuʻi ʻai demonstrations, healthy and locally sourced snack samples, vermicomposting workshops, school garden tours, and ʻĀINA Garden and Nutrition Lesson highlights.
