World Ocean Month- Celebrate with Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation
Happy World Ocean Month! Each year, June is dedicated to honoring our ocean. While World Ocean Day is on June 8th, we encourage you to find ways to celebrate for the entire month. Dive into action by participating in coastal cleanups, attending film screenings, exploring ocean-inspired art, and engaging educational events all month! Here is how Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation will be celebrating
Saturday June 3- Island Wide Beach Cleanup with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi & Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation! Join us as we partner with Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi to lead a beach cleanup for their North Shore location at Mokulēʻia Army Beach from 9am-12pm. Registration is required! Monday, June 5- World Environment Day! In 1972, the UN Assembly designated June 5th as World Environment Day! It has now developed into a global platform for raising awareness and taking action to protect our environment. This yearʻs theme is beating plastic pollution! Join us and KHF Co-Founder and UN Goodwill Ambassador Jack Johnson in celebrating. You can learn more about World Environment Day and discover solutions to plastic pollution here.
Wednesday, June 7 - Saturday, June 10 - Come into the Kōkua General Store to celebrate World Ocean Month by supporting reusable systems! Each store visitor who refills with us between Wednesday June 7 through Saturday, June 10 will receive a FREE choice of a Plastic Free Hawaiʻi gift! We will also have a Plastic Free Hawaiʻi resource table for you to discover upcycled products and educational guides!
Saturday, June 10- Join us at Waimea Valley for a World Ocean Day Community Event with Mālama Pupukea Waimea on Saturday, June 10th, from 9am-2pm.This free event will feature educational booths from SO MANY of our amazing nonprofit friends such as Kuleana Coral, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi, Wānana Paoa, Mālama Loko Ea Foundation and more!
